Special personalised container for umbilical cord blood/ umbilical cord tissue collection and preservation will be delivered to the maternity hospital of choice before the expected delivery day. This container can also be handed out to you. In this case, you have to deliver the container to the hospital yourselves.

Step 3.

Umbilical cord blood/cord tissue collection during labour by your obstetrician

Your obstetrician engaged in labour has to fill in the form on biomaterial collection for HEMAFUND. The fact of collection should also be officially confirmed by the closest family member (present at the maternity hospital) to HEMAFUND or HEMAFUND`s medical advisor. Umbilical cord blood collection is proceeded in accordance with the Ministry of Health Care of Ukraine decree right after the child being born. The procedure is absolutely safe and executed without any direct contact with both mother and child.

Step 4.

Umbilical cord blood/umbilical cord delivery to biotechnological facility

Collected biological material is delivered to HEMAFUND`s biotechnological facility in Kyiv within 2-24 hours (depends on region).

General biomaterial testing and part-time cryostorage placement

Umbilical cord blood and umbilical cord are tested for infections/viruses in accordance with European biobanks standard protocols. Then umbilical cord blood is fractioned, stem cells are extracted and being counted. Both types of biomaterial are processed and fragmented before being placed to cryostorage.

Constant storage placement, deposit passport distribution

After biomaterial being tested – that is about 4-6 since childbirth - parents are informed on the test results and full payment is made.
